About Findhorn
Once a busy fishing port, Findhorn village is now the ideal location for a stress-free holiday by the sea.
The horsehoe bay provides safe water for dinghy sailing and yacht anchorage. The village is home to the Royal Findhorn Yacht Club (next door to Tides Edge) and to the "Moray Gig" (pictured), an "Atlantic Challenge" sail training vessel.
Much of the inner bay, protected as a Nature Reserve, dries to mud flats at low tide and is delight for the ornithologist. Across the water from Tides Edge is the Culbin Forest. The North Shore bounding the Moray Firth has miles of sandy beaches, running all the way to Burghead.
Findhorn Village has a well stocked shop and Post Office and two pubs, all within easy walking distance of the Cottage. The Findhorn Foundation and Eco-Village Project lies between the Village and neighbouring Kinloss.
About Moray
The Moray Firth enjoys a favourable microclimate with more sunshine and less rain than the UK average. It can be windy, providing a challenge for both golfers and sailors - but not a problem for the osprey or dolphins.
Within half an hour's drive of Findhorn there are attractions for all tastes: including sites of historic interest, distilleries on Speyside and a wide range of sporting facilities, notably some very fine golf courses. Check links to sample a small selection.
But if you like walking, birdwatching, watersports or fishing - or not doing very much at all - there's really no need to travel outside Findhorn Bay.
